BUDDY D. FORD, P.A.
BUSINESS AND CONSUMER BANKRUPTCY ○ CIVIL LITIGATION ○ BUSINESS LAW ○ PROBATE ADMINISTRATION AND ESTATE PLANNING

BOARD CERTIFIED ATTORNEY IN BUSINESS BANKRUPTCY, EFFECTIVE IN ALL CASES
Buddy D. Ford, P.A., began its life as a bankruptcy firm but, because bankruptcy can intersect with tax issues, civil litigation, and business organization (or reorganization) issues, our practice expanded to cover these areas.

Founder Buddy Ford has extensive bankruptcy experience, including representing a wide array of Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 debtors and creditors throughout the country, with emphasis on his home state of Florida.

He has assisted numerous business clients through complex business bankruptcy reorganizations, clerked for a bankruptcy judge, served as a Chapter 7 trustee, served as a Chapter 11 trustee, and is board certified in business bankruptcy law by the American Board of Certification. He has represented debtors, creditors, businesses, bankruptcy trustees, receivers, banks, and other lending institutions.

Buddy Ford's goal was to be a full-service bankruptcy law firm to assist Tampa Bay and Florida businesses and residents with their financial issues, including, bankruptcy and alternatives to bankruptcy. Mr. Ford accomplished his goal and has become a champion of bankruptcy clients in the state of Florida, with an excellent reputation in the courts and throughout the legal community.

Although Mr. Ford's practice emphasizes bankruptcy-related proceedings, his practice also includes commercial and business litigation outside bankruptcy. As lead plaintiff's attorney in a case filed in the Las Vegas District Court in Nevada, styled European American Resources, Inc. v. Martin Sportschuetz, et. al. (Case Number: CV-S-01-0128-KJD-PAL), Mr. Ford obtained a judgment against a former officer and director of a publicly traded company in an amount in excess of $20,000,000.00. The claim included fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, and racketeering. The judgment was obtained in 2004, and Mr. Ford's firm is now actively involved in collection on the judgment for the benefit of his clients.

In the case, Naturally Beautiful Nails v. Wal-Mart (Adversary Proceeding No. 8:98-ap-727), Mr. Ford as plaintiff's counsel prosecuted a breach of contract claim against Wal-Mart, resulting in a $1,000,000.00 award in favor of his clients and $500,000.00 in punitive damages. Although Wal-Mart subsequently appealed, the case settled with Wal-Mart paying $1,000,000.00 to the plaintiff's estate.

Mr. Ford has been successful in discharging millions of dollars in tax obligations owed to the Internal Revenue Service. In a case decided in 2004 entitled William O'Callaghan v. Internal Revenue Service (Adversary Proceeding No. 8:99-ap-589), after protracted contested litigation the Court discharged more than $2,064,588.00 in taxes owed by the debtor to the IRS. Another 2005 case in which Mr. Ford was counsel, Ron Murphy v. Internal Revenue Service (Adversary Proceeding No. 8:05-ap-0005), resulted in $246,511.17 being discharged.
